One day, an African American woman named Nisha Godfrey came to a Deli called the East 81st Deli to get some food.

It was her normal haunt, and she had been there many times. As it was a hot day, she didn't want anything too heavy, so out of a whim, she decided to order the chicken salad to try it for the first time.

She loved it, and the owner of the deli, Wael Hebawi, decided to make a quick TikTok of her order.

In the video, Hebawi asked Godfrey what she was eating and where she got it, and after being prompted, she replied with what became the viral sound.

In her reply, she told people that they need to come up there and try one of those chicken salads.

She then described the ingredients in the salad, like chicken, pickles, banana peppers, bell peppers, tomatoes, and onions, though the video cut off here. Despite nothing else to the video, it blew up and has had over 20 million views and almost four million likes.

For some reason, people enjoyed Godfrey's voice, and the comments were filled with people stating that they loved her voice and the way she described the order. Because of that one TikTok, the deli's business has skyrocketed, and Godfrey has garnered over 160K followers on her TikTok page.

Due to how viral the "It's A Chicken Salad" sound became on TikTok, it quickly became a trend.

In the trend, people used the sound to describe either they or someone else recommending a certain food.

For example, a user used the sound to play under a skit where her nephew tried to convince her to eat one of his Cheeto Puffs. Another example of the trend was another user using the sound to play under a video where she talked about eating a whole rotisserie chicken for her protein intake.

Even celebrities have started to join in on the trend as Lizzo used the sound to advertise another restaurant.
