Where Are Kim Potter And Husband Jeff Potter Today?
The manslaughter trial of an ex Minnesota police officer who fatally shot a Black man while exclaiming Taser during a traffic stop-turned-arrest earlier this year is expected to begin on Tuesday.
Daunte Wright, 20, was killed on April 11 in the Minneapolis neighbourhood of Brooklyn Center, and Kim Potter has been charged with first and second-degree manslaughter.
Potter had been the police chief of the Brooklyn Center Police Department for 26 years, and he resigned two days later.
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is prosecuting the matter. Attorneys Earl Gray and Paul Engh are representing Potter.
Gray also represents a former Minneapolis cop charged in the killing of George Floyd and a cop who fatally shot during a traffic stop outside of St. Paul.
Prosecutors must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Potter killed Wright while committing the minor offence of reckless handling of a firearm to convict him of first-degree manslaughter.
