The newest popular TikTok phrase is Blackbear Phase which became popular in 2022. Teens and young adults usually use Blackbear Phase.

The trend usually involves a young person, usually someone in their late teens or early 20s, talking about listening to the music of American musician, singer, and rapper Blackbear.

They usually equate his music to a younger time in their life.

They can then either show a series of pictures of their younger self, usually in high school or middle school or sing along to the music playing under the video, which is a sped-up version of a Blackbear song, usually his hit song Hot Girl Bummer.

Blackbear and his music have long since been equated with being for outsiders or people who do not fit in.

So, one-half of the people who like his music and are following the trend are showing their solidarity with fellow Blackbear fans who feel that way.

On the other hand, some people are using this trend solely to show that they used to be fans of Blackbear when they were younger and ruminating on their youth or the time that has passed since then.

The trend is simple as it does not require much preparation, and most people participating in it do so in their beds or at least from the comfort of their own room.

Blackbear has yet to comment on the trend or be aware of it.

Blackbear is the pseudonym of American musician Matthew Tyler Musto. Blackbear is known for popularizing the famous pop-punk revival.

He started his career straight out of high school with a rock band, Polaroid, with whom he released one album, one EP, and one demo.

The bad even got signed with a record label called Leakmob Records, and he dropped out of high school to focus on music.

He turned solo soon after 2008 when he started his music and released his first EP, Brightness, the same year. He kept pumping out at least one EP a year in 2009 and 2010 as Matt Musto.

Blackbear also started writing for other musicians as he co-wrote Justine Bieber's number 2 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, Boyfriend, in early 2012. Later in the year, he released his debut EP under his new moniker Blackbear.

R&B impacted his music's new direction he was surrounded by. He also began collaborating with Machine Gun Kelly, with whom he'd have a long career of collaborations ahead. He also gained some prominence as being one of the first independent artists to monetize off of streaming on Soundcloud.

He self-released his debut full-length album in 2015 and since then has released six albums that have been commercially successful but fared not too well critically.

He is one of three people, alongside Machine Gun Kelly and Olivia Rodrigo, that can be credited with the revival of pop punk, and cases can be made that Blackbear did it first.
