Vic Reeves is an English surrealist comedian, artist, musician, actor, and television presenter.

Reeves is best known for his physical comedy, and surreal sense of humor, best displayed in his double act with fellow English comedian Bob Mortimer called Reeves & Mortimer.

Reeves and Mortimer, also known as Vic and Bob, are a British double act that has written and starred in several comedy programs on television since 1990.

They have been compared to another great comedy double act in British history, Morecambe and Wise. Unlike Morecambe and Wise, Vic and Bob's material is absurd.

Rather than simply absurd, Reeves and Mortimer's comedy would combine the absurd with cartoonish slapstick through visually and verbally inventive material from traditional comedy double-act staples.

These traditional comedy staples included classics like engaging in escalating fights by hitting each other with hammers, frying pans, baseball bats, etc.

Their often improvised silly banter and purposefully corny, rapid-fire jokes earned them many fans.

What separated Reeves and Mortimer from other comedy acts and other comedians was that, at times, both played the straight man.

Either Mortimer would play the exasperated foil to Reeves' eccentric buffoonery, or Reeves would play being blankly bemused or annoyed by a manic or hyperactive Mortimer.

The success the comedians reached was legendary as they forged a status and a name for themselves as the alternatives to alternative comedy in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

In a 2005 poll, fellow comedians and comedy insiders voted the duo the ninth greatest comedy act ever.
