Rigathi Gachagua was born to his parents, Andrew Kibe and Jane Kirigo as their eighth child in the year 1965.

He was born in the village of Ruguru in the Mathira Constituency of Nyeri County. From 1971 to 1977, he attended Kabiruini Primary School before attending Kianyaga High School for his O-levels and A-levels.

Furthermore, Gachagua enrolled at the University of Nairobi in 1985 and graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Literature.

Rigathi attended the Kenya School Of Government between 1999 and 2000, graduating with a Diploma in Advanced Public Administration.

Not only that, He then went on to work as a District Officer in the districts of Kakamega, Ngarua, and Laikipia.

Gachagua stayed in the background until he was elected to the Mathira Constituency as a Member of Parliament for the Jubilee Party in 2017, Apart from being a businessman.
