Marlin Briscoe Death From An Illness, First Black Starting QB In AFL Passed Away

Marlin Briscoe died on June 27, 2022, due to an illness caused by pneumonia at the age of 76. He was the first Black starting QB in the American Football League AFL history.

Briscoe took his last breath at a hospital in Norwalk, California. He had been in hospital for circulation issues in his legs. His daughter Angela Mariott announced the legendary football player's death.

The Omaha, Nebraska native, nicknamed "the Magician," passed away in a hospital in California. His death is mourned by the NFL and all the sporting world.

His wife and his daughter survived Marlin Briscoe.

Initially, Briscoe was married to his daughter Angela's mother, whose name is not known, in California. Briscoe brought a beautiful house and was partying all the time when he started taking drugs and was soon into a Cocaine addiction.

The AFL quarterback lost his family and house due to the addiction and the side hustle. He was broke and returned to his hometown, and was surprised when he was treated as a hero.

Briscoe had since recovered from addiction and was sober after getting remarried.

The exact net worth of the recently deceased former quarterback Marlin Briscoe is currently unknown. However, it is estimated to be under $1 million.

Briscoe used to work as a coach following his retirement from professional football. His earnings were enough for the day-to-day chores of his family. He used to work as a financial broker dealing in municipal bonds.

The pioneer footballer has received widespread recognition for his role in sports. In 2016, Briscoe was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Likewise, he won two super bowls with Miami Dolphins.

Also, before retiring, Briscoe was the Boys and Girls Club director in Long Beach, California. He also opened a football camp focused on children. The passing of the legendary black sportsperson will be mourned by friends, families, and fans worldwide.
