Hemochromatosis is a genetic disorder characterized by excessive intestinal iron absorption, resulting in an abnormally high total body iron store.
Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a type of diabetes characterized by high blood sugar, insulin resistance, and a relative lack of insulin.
David Battie was involved in an accident that left him with an antibiotic-resistant infection. He almost lost his leg due to an infection.
David was on his way to Norwich for a talk. When he slipped on wet grass and suffered a complex fracture to his right leg, he decided to take a break from driving.
David was taken to a hospital in Norwich before being transferred to a hospital in Brighton.
He had to stay in the hospital for six months with scaffold rods drilled into his leg for support. The infection persisted and was resistant to all antibiotics given to him.
