Details About Phil Bennett's Death And His Illness
Former fly-half for Wales and the British and Irish Lions Phil Bennett has died at the age of 73, according to his former team Scarlets.
Bennett was praised as "one of the all-time legends of the rugby and widely considered as the best player to wear the Scarlets jersey by Scarlets in a statement confirming the sad news of his passing.
Delme Thomas, Bennett's former Scarlets captain, and Wales and Lions teammate, paid homage to Bennett, saying, He was the best fly-half I have ever seen on a rugby field.
We are devastated by this news, said Scarlet's chairman Simon Muderack. Phil Bennett's name is mentioned everywhere the Scarlets go throughout the world.
