Is Trisha Paytas Jewish?
No, Famous YouTuber and social media personality Trisha Paytas is not Jewish.
However, she has become a trending topic on the internet for repeatedly saying bad words about Jewish people. One of the incidents happened in 2021 when she and Ethan Klein were the internet’s favourite podcasting duo.
Paytas and Ethan disagreed over how to split the profits from "Frenemies" in one episode. However, upon announcing their decision to leave the podcast, she clarified that the issue wasn't money; rather, they were angry that they weren't involved in choices like selecting crew members.
According to the screenshots, several screenshots from Paytas' since-deleted tweets featured text messages she allegedly had with Ethan concerning compensation.
The screenshots of Paytas' iMessage app where some of the texts were found appeared to date from about September 2020, just before the "Frenemies" podcast premiered. In other screenshots from Paytas' WhatsApp, a chat with Ethan from the previous 48 hours was seen.
After receiving criticism from his followers over the exposed texts, Paytas issued an apology.
She claimed that her style of humour at the time was to blame. And she had been making that joke repeatedly at the time. She went on to say that Ethan had only explained to her why it is hurtful to stereotype Jews as being cheap that year, during an episode.
She apologized for using insulting words about Jews and denied being antisemitic during an extended rant on social media. Paytas' release of screenshots of her own text exchanges, which show her referring to her Jewish podcast co-host as "Jewy" during a financial negotiation, caused her to issue the apology.
She has received criticism in the past for remarks on Jews. She sang a song from the musical "The Producers" on her TikTok in November 2020. Satirical lyrics in the song "Springtime for Hitler" promote the leader. She mimicked the "Heil Hitler" gesture in her TikTok performance as well, which offended some Jewish viewers.
She said she had just learnt about the Holocaust for the first time after watching the 1993 movie "Schindler's List" in a later episode of "Frenemies" airing in the fall of 2020.
When Ethan disputed Paytas' assertion that she was unaware of the Holocaust before, Paytas responded that she was aware of Hitler but was unaware of the magnitude of the perished people. According to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, 6 million Jews perished during the Holocaust.
Similarly, she also commented on the food when she referred to it as Jew lunch.
