Madeleine Eiss was born to James and Susan Eiss. Her father, James Eiss, who works as an engineer, recalled that Madeliene loved to study, from chemistry to biology to her SAGES studies. She has a younger brother, Matthew, and a younger sister, Monica.

Eiss was a brilliant tennis player who also made the regional semifinals of the ITA Championships in doubles.
