What Happened To Lazard Intern? New York Subway Death Case
The young Lazard intern accidentally stumbled onto the tracks and was fatally struck by a Manhattan subway train on Tuesday night, June 29 at around 9:42 p.m.
The woman was hit by a Queens-bound 7 train at Grand Central Station, which instantly caused tension in the terminal. The police assert that despite her best efforts to stop the train on time, the driver nonetheless struck the victim.
According to the police, New York City Fire Department firefighters made an effort to resuscitate the woman after the incident but were not able to rescue her. An hour later, she was pronounced dead by the police department. It wasn't immediately clear what caused the victim to fall onto the lines.
The train operator allegedly failed to apply the brakes quickly enough to save the victim. She was declared dead on the spot.
Earlier this year, transit officials submitted a plan to erect safety barriers in three of the city's subway stations in an effort to reduce rail fatalities. According to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, only 41 of the 472 subway stations can now be upgraded to include barriers.
