After Eugene Melnyk's death, his children and family have expressed their grief on social media.

The family and his team announced that the businessman had died with determination and commitment.

Following the demise, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman also provided a tribute to the late businessman.

He has said: he "cared deeply about the game, about his team and about bettering the lives of those in need, particularly underserved children, organ donation and, most recently, with his commitment to his parent's home country of Ukraine."
