What Happened To Capri Grotowski? FAU Volleyball Head Coach Passed Away!

FAU Head Coach Capri Grotowski was battling breast cancer for nearly a decade. In the end, cancer won over her life.

She coached at FAU for eight years, frequently juggling treatments and the aftereffects of her disease.

This past season was the most fruitful of the coach's time with the Owls as her team finished 23-12, winning the NCAA tournament, and Grotowski was voted Conference USA's coach of the year.

Grotowski decided to concentrate on sand volleyball after earning her degree in 2006. She participated in several regional circuits and achieved multiple top-three Open placings.

Capri has gathered more than 25 career victories. She initially made an AVP tournament cut in 2009 and competed on tour for the next two years.

As mentioned in the earlier subheading, Capri Grotowski lost her decade-long battle with breast cancer.

Before founding VB Beach, a sand volleyball training club for juniors and adults, Grotowski started teaching a neighborhood beach club in 2006.

Grotowski led the Owls' dual match victory in her first season as FAU's head coach by guiding the team to a record in 2015.

Brittany Pellitteri and Andrea Galinis won the gold bracket in the Fiesta on Siesta Key Tournament because of her strong leadership.

Capri Grotowski's family and friends are currently in grief after hearing the news of her sudden demise.

According to university president John Kelly, Coach Grotowski's passing caused a terrible loss for the FAU family.

Kelly further stated Capri's contributions to the university and the many lives she touched during her life and work.

Grotowski was survived by her husband, Steve Grotowski, who represented Great Britain in beach volleyball at the 2012 London Olympics.

The couple had two kids in their family. They have a son named Card and a daughter named Kyah.
