Edouard Stern Murder Update: Where Is Killer Cecile Brossard Now

Édouard Stern was a French banker who was murdered in Geneva, Switzerland, by a woman with whom he had a four-year connection. He was the 38th richest French citizen at the time of his death.

Stern was the successor apparent to his father-in-law, Michel David-Weill, at the investment house Lazard Frères. He was noted for his harsh attitude as well as his dashing demeanor.

Unfortunately, Stern was discovered dead in his Geneva residence on February 28, 2005, with four gunshots in his corpse. He was discovered in the bedroom, dressed from head to toe in a flesh-colored latex bodysuit, with a dildo implanted in him.

Authorities in Switzerland apprehended his long-term lover, Cécile Brossard, who murdered him during a sadomasochistic bondage session.

Brossard, 40, was found guilty and sentenced to eight years and six months in prison on June 18, 2009. Furthermore, the Swiss court ordered Brossard to pay one Swiss franc to Stern's children for "moral injury."

According to the Wall Street Journal, "Stern's family hopes people will stop talking about the case." However, it's been already seventeen years and the news is still circulating about his murder.

Brossard was granted release in November 2010 after serving five years in prison, four of which were spent awaiting trial. She discussed the murder for the first time since the trial in 2013, admitting that she "eternally regrets" her actions.

She further added that she loves her partner, who had "a charming and dazzling personality."

He was married to Béatrice David-Weil, with whom he shared three children in New York. Béatrice David-Weil is the daughter of Michel David-Weill and the granddaughter of Pierre David-Weil, both of whom worked at Lazard Frères.

Cecile Brossard was released in November 2010 after spending only eighteen months in jail. Her present whereabouts are unclear to us since she must have moved on in life, away from those who knew her as a murderer.

Moreover, she was a married woman with a husband, named Xavier Gillet. Cecile and her spouse were both questioned about their marital status, attorneys, and accounts during the investigations.

She was eventually freed since there wasn't enough evidence linking her to the crime.

Though she was previously not proven guilty since the millionaire had many enemies at the time.

She admitted to shooting Edouard in the face, stomach, chest, and head four times. She led detectives to the lake where she'd dumped the murder weapon, and a team of divers was able to collect it.

All the feud started with a proposal. According to Cecile, Edouard proposed to her in December 2004, with a million euros as part of the proposal.

She alleges she stated that she would not end her relationship with Gillet in order to marry and live with Stern. When the cash did not arrive, Cecile wrote Edouard a letter in which she explained how a million euros would truly demonstrate how much he loved her.

Edouard deposited $1 million into Cecile's account in January, only to have the wire transfer canceled and the money blocked in February.

Cecile went to Edouard's flat on February 28 to discuss why the cash wasn't there. Edouard allegedly stated something along the lines of "$1 million is a lot of money to spend for a whore."

What happened next is unknown, but it resulted in Edouard donning a latex body suit, allowing Cecile to tie him up, and inserting a dildo inside him.

She then reached into a drawer, picked out one of Edouard's firearms, and shot him dead on the spot. He rose up because, despite his age, he was in reasonably good form, but when Cecile shot him twice more, he slumped to the floor.

Cecile then shot him in the head just to be sure he was dead.

Cecile then grabbed all of her gear-tights, a dog collar, a latex costume, the murder weapon, and several more guns-from Edouard's apartment, along with the four-round casings. She used her own set of keys to lock the flat door.

She then proceeded to her husband Gillet's apartment, dumping the handguns into Lake Leman as she passed by. When she arrived, she informed Gillet that she and Edouard had a terrible argument and that she was departing for a few days.

She boarded a train to Villeneuve, then a cab to a Milan airport, and escape on her flight to Sydney.

On June 11, 2009, Cecile Brossard pled guilty to murdering a millionaire French banker after kinky sex and a $1 million disagreement. She claimed the crime was "not an issue of money but of the heart (Murderpedia)."

Brossard interrupted proceedings to tell the crowded Geneva courtroom that she had done 'abominable conduct' against Stern and demanded to know the whole truth.

My heart is filled with regret and sadness. 'I've come to explain myself, not to defend myself, and to tell you what occurred,' a crying Brossard said, scarcely audible.

She expressed concern that his three adult children will never be able to enjoy Christmas with their father again.

'I want to give them the truth, not harm Edouard or tarnish his name,' said the 40-year-old. He was the "most brilliant, cultured, cultivated, and magnificent man" she had ever met.

Court documents suggest Brossard admitted to killing Stern with his own pistol during an altercation over $1 million. He deposited the amount into her Swiss account after she requested it as "evidence of his love for her."
