The police and the investigators then searched and found that the aircraft had crashed near the suburb of Fernvale in bushland.
By the time the emergency services reached the aircraft, Strachan, his 20-year-old son Noah Strachan, and pilot Gary Liehm had already passed away and were pronounced dead at the scene.
No one else was on board the plane. The Queensland Police's Forensic Crash Unit has stated that they intend to investigate the circumstances of the crash with the assistance of the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.
Packhorse, the company of which Tom Strachan was an executive director, released a statement stating that they were deeply saddened by the loss of their dear friend, colleague, executive director, his son, and the pilot.
They further added that Strachan was an inspiring, generous, charismatic entrepreneur and that they intend to support his family and friends.
