Jemma Melvin has won a worldwide competition to prepare a dessert for The Queen. A 31-year-old copywriter at 4040 Media in Southport, Melvin learned to bake from her grandma.

Similarly, The trifle has been designated as the official dessert of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and will be served throughout the United Kingdom on the Bank Holiday weekend.

Moreover, Jemma remarked on the show that her late grandmother would be "extremely proud" if she won the competition and the Queen ate her pudding.

The Duchess of Cornwall, patron of The Big Jubilee Lunch, was a special guest at the final filming and introduced the winning recipe.

Jemma Melvin, In a competition sponsored by Fortnum & Mason, her Lemon Swiss Roll and Amaretti trifle beat out puddings made by 5,000 amateur bakers.

The meal, which her grandmother inspired, is destined to join the ranks of coronation chicken and Victoria sponge as a British royal food tradition.

Likewise, she revealed that her grandmother taught her to bake all the elements from scratch.

The bottom layer of the trifle is a lemon curd Swiss roll, followed by St Clement's jelly, lemon custard, amaretti biscuits, mandarin coulis, whipped cream, candied peel, chocolate shards, and crushed amaretti cookies.
