Who Is Ewan McGregor Brother? Meet Colin McGregor And Family

Ewan McGregor brother Colin McGregor was Royal Air Force Pilot until 2007. Now he enjoys his retired life cycling and being involved in other activities.

Ewan and Colin have a two-year gap, being born on March 31, 1971, and 1969 respectively. Colin is the elder brother of actor Ewan. 

His brother Colin inspired some of the dialogues in Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999), Star Wars-Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002), and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2007), is the coolest in the galaxy (2005).

Ewan and Colin were born in Perth, Scotland, and grew up in neighboring Crieff. Their mother, Carol Diane, is a former deputy head teacher at Kingspark School in Dundee and a retired teacher from Crieff High School.

The brother duo's father, James Charles Stewart "Jim" McGregor, is a former careers advisor at Crieff's independent Morrison's Academy and a retired physical education teacher.

Colin was particularly a former Tornado GR4 pilot in the Royal Air Force. Actor Denis Lawson is McGregor's brother's uncle. 

Ewan McGregor and his brother Colin McGregor were born into a Scottish family. They grew up in Crieff. 

On the set of Kavanagh QC, McGregor met Jewish French-Greek production designer Eve Mavrakis, whom he later married.

Together, they have four daughters, out of which two are adopted, one a homeless child he met in Mongolia while traveling the Long Way Round.

They have four biological daughters. In 2016, McGregor stated, "My involvement in religion has more to do with the Jewish faith now and not the Christian faith, which I was very vaguely brought up in."

His former wife, Mavrakis, raised his children in the Jewish faith. On his right arm, McGregor has a tattoo of a heart and a dagger with the names of Mavrakis and their daughters.

Having been apart from Mavrakis since May 2017, McGregor filed for divorce on January 19, 2018, citing irreconcilable differences.
