Who Is Caroline Jones' Husband? All We Know About Her Secretive Love Life

Television journalist Caroline Jones will be missed by the ABC News family.

Journalism was in her blood. Born on 1 January 1938 in the small town of Murrurundi in the Upper Hunter region of NSW, she was the only child of her parents - her mom, Nancy, was a columnist.

As per a 2013 interview with the Newcastle Herald, her father was a part of the Australian Imperial Force and Broadmeadow camp (for some time) in the Second World War.

Caroline recalled how she and her mother would occasionally visit and spend time with him. She traveled between Murrurundi and Newcastle on a steam train as her dad was away throughout the war - the experience she called exciting. 

Her family moved to Gosford, where she completed high school. Her 1998-best-selling book, An Authentic Life: Finding Meaning and Spirituality in Everyday Life, expresses her sadness due to the separation from her parents.

Moreover, her maternal grandpa, Ashley Needham Pountney, had inspired her to make her first journalism job attempt. He was the son of a convict who had established The Werris Creek Express and The Murrurundi Times.

Her grandfather passed away the year she came to life. Some of his projects were The Quirindi Advocate, an editorial for a local newspaper, and The Bushman’s Carnival.

Caroline had associated with Australian Story since its creation in 1996 but retired in 2016. She won many awards and accolades throughout her career, including the 1972 Logie award and the 2021 Australian Media Hall of Fame.

Moreover, Ziprecruiter reports the average salary of an ABC News Reporter to be $43,536 per year. Though the valuation of money differs from her time, Caroline might have made an amount equivalent to it.
