A 22-year-old rapper has been arrested on suspicion of murdering six people at a July 4th parade in an upscale Chicago neighborhood.

Cops stopped Robert 'Bobby' Crimo III in North Lake Forest, Chicago, shortly after 7 p.m. local time Monday evening after noticing the silver Honda Fit he was last seen driving.

Who Are Awake The Rapper Aka Robert Crimo III's Parents, Bob And Denise Crimo?

Awake the Rapper aka Robert Bobby E. Crimo III was born to his parents on September 20, 2000, in Chicago, IL. His father Bob Crimo owns a local deli and previously campaigned unsuccessfully for mayor of the Highland area.

In a 2018 Chicago Tribune piece, Bob Crimo was seen with his wife, Denise. His establishment is regarded as "family-run and family-oriented(Daily mail)."

His father's failed mayoral campaign is suspected of being one of the motivations for his rampage shooting on July 4th on Highland.

Bob stood for mayor in 2019, but he was not backed by any political party. "A Person for the People" was his campaign slogan.

Crimo's uncle expresses his regrets to FOX News following his arrest. "I am very sorry for everyone," he said. "I can't believe he did that, and I want to send my heartfelt condolences to everyone."

He also stated that there were no warning signs of him till the day before his action. He had no idea what had prompted him to take such a tragic measures.

Authorities searched for Crimo, 22, for many hours Monday, believing he was driving a silver 2010 Honda Fit. Police characterized Crimo as a white male with black hair who was armed and dangerous.

"This guy is considered to be responsible for what transpired," Lake County Major Crime Task Force spokesman Christopher Covelli said after the arrest was announced Monday.

Covelli stated that a "substantial amount of digital information" assisted detectives in identifying Crimo as a person of interest.

A North Chicago police officer saw and briefly pursued Crimo near Lake Forest. And "the individual was put into custody without incident," stated Chief of Police Lou Jogmen shortly before 7 p.m. local time Monday.

The terrifying videos of Robert Crimo rampage shooting that have gone popular on Reddit show him firing a long barrage of gunfire. It shows him stopping, most likely to reload, and then resuming fire.

On Monday, he opened fire from a rooftop on an Independence Day celebration in suburban Chicago. The incident killed at least six people, injured at least 30, and sent hundreds of marchers, parents with strollers, and children on bicycles running in horror.

Crimo's most recent YouTube video depicted him in the aftermath of a school shooting. It concludes with Crimo draped in an American flag.

Another music video had a man wearing a shirt with the emblem of his YouTube channel on it, wielding a long gun, and being shot by police.

On Monday night, the YouTube account that contained his videos was taken down.

Crimo has his own Discord server where fans and friends could talk. The group has a politics board full with cynical political memes.

Before the incident, the most recent post was a photo of Budd Dwyer, the Pennsylvania state treasurer who shot and killed himself on live television in the late 1980s. He left a remark "I wish politicians still delivered speeches like this" in the post.

Crimo's supporters would share posts he'd produced of himself on Discord. Crimo's supposed March selfie says, "Cursed image screenshot and give to everyone or commit not alive longer," an allusion to suicide.

Robert Crimo III Jail And Mugshot

Robert Crimo is currently taken into custody by North Chicago police. 

His mugshot, which shows him in a white or blue t-shirt, was shared on social media before he was detained.

Crimo has four tattoos on his right cheek with a line across them, red flowers and a green leaf on his neck, and the word 'Awake' in the cursive script above his left brow.
