Cameron Toshack, Toshack's son, is also a former professional football player.
John Toshack was born in Cardiff, Wales, and grew up in the Canton neighborhood on Northumberland Street. His father, George, was a carpenter from the Scottish town of Dunfermline.
While stationed at MOD St Athan as a member of the Royal Air Force, he met Toshack's mother, Joan, whom he eventually married.
