Similarly, Petula Clark also had a "difficult personal patch," but after "several months" of feeling low she sought help from her GP, who was able to prescribe antidepressants.

She said, "I was going through a difficult personal patch. I felt very low for several months and yet shied away from seeing anyone," she recalled about her mental health struggle.

"Eventually I went to see a doctor, who prescribed an antidepressant. He said: "It will make you feel like "you" again." She added, "And it did. I didn't have to take the pills for long, and I was fine after that."

In 1955, Petula Clark was in a relationship with Joe "Mr Piano" Henderson. Despite the rumor of them getting married, they ended their relationship with each other.

She was once invited to the office of Vogue Records' chairman Leon Cabat to discuss recording in French and working in France. She met her now-husband, publicist Claude Wolff, to whom she got attracted immediately.

The couple has two daughters and a son. Since 2012, she has lived for most of the year in Geneva, Switzerland. She also has a holiday chalet in the French Alps, where she likes to ski.

During a nostalgic, interview 89 years old Petula Clark reflected on her career, nothing both the highs and lows, including the period when she was depressed.

She appeared on Alan Titchmarsh's ITV show Love Your Weekend this morning to celebrate her long career in show business and looks back with pride on all of her accomplishments.

However, back in 2013, the celebrity discussed the darker side of stardom. Her concern that fame had harmed her three children as well as her brief touch of depression for which she sought medical care.
