In his personal life, Lineker was married to Michelle Cockayne from 1986 to 2006, and the couple had four sons.

Gary married Danielle Bux three years later, and they were married until 2016. He is also a philanthropist, helping organizations such as CLIC Sargent, a cancer charity.
